Default Special Guest: Desert Dwellers - DownTemple Dub: REMIXED

Dear Friends!

We are proud to represent you one of PsyRadio favorite downtempo bands, our Special Guests from The United States:

Desert Dwellers - DownTemple Dub: REMIXED

On DownTemple Dub: Remixed, world-class sound alchemists filter Desert Dwellers’ classic psy-chilled grooves through a kaleidoscope of midtempo breaks and ornately-textured ambience. Yoga dub meets ethno-electronic bass music on this genre-bending journey through realms of sonic bliss and dancefloor ecstasy.

Bringing the bass music vibe to the yoga space – and the yoga vibe to the bass music space – Desert Dwellers’ global sounds are the bridge between two ideas. Joining solid groove with sounds of serenity, their signature yoga dub aesthetic feels as natural after hours as it does on the yoga mat. Due in no small part to Desert Dwellers’ pioneering spirit, the very concept of yoga music has expanded dramatically.

Some of the most forward thinking producers in the ethno-electronic scene embrace the Desert Dwellers concept on DownTemple Dub: Remixed, a reimagining of Desert Dwellers’ tranquility bass and groove-infused South Asian psy-chill fusion.

International excursions from pacesetting deep bass alchemists (Kalya Scintilla, Love & Light, Kaminanda, and Drumspyder among them), and contributions from rising names in the burgeoning yogabeat scene (Duke Mushroom, EarthRise SoundSystem, Eccodek), the album is more than just deep bass, cool soundscapes and exotic voices. It is the expression of music’s ritual and scientific power. It is the pursuit of the transformative, communal experience that bass music and yoga share.

Love and Light
Comprised of the musical talents of Matt Madonna and Ryan Anderson, Love and Light hails from the high desert region of the Reno/Tahoe Basin. Creating music that will touch your heart and elevate your soul, the duo’s primary focus is the uplifting of people across the world through pure intention, melodic synth lines, complex chord structure, intricate rhythms, and funky, chunky bass lines. With a strong focus on midtempo bass music, and producing talents that span into the realms of melodic dubstep, half-time drum and bass, moombahton, and four-on-the-floor bangers, Love and Light deliver a multi-genre live set spiced with an onmitempo evolution that will be sure to keep your body moving. Combine the duo’s unique production style with their high-energy stage presence, add a set full of original music with a sprinkle with quality remixes, and the product is a sub-sonic experience that brings people together and leaves you with prolific feelings of connectedness.

AES DANA
AES DANA aka Vincent Villuis, composer and sound designer, Dj and co-owner of Ultimae records. Electronic activist since teenage-hood, he was also one of the founding members of ASURA. Bass player and singer in several cold wave and industrial bands, he then moved on to composing with machines. Specialized in sampling and layering of acoustic sounds digitally transmuted, Vincent Villuis creates a music which offers multiple listening possibilities. AES DANA brings a fusion between the British Progressive feel and the traditional American Space Music; with sounds anchored in the psychedelic realm freely flowing into a morning downtempo trance, tribal or smashed rhythms. So far he has produced 4 solo albums, participated to about 3 dozen compilations and collaborated on two albums with Swedish artist Magnus Birgersson under moniker H.UV.A.NETWORK. We expect his next album [ Perimeters ] to be released in 2010. In 2009, Vincent Villuis composed soundtracks for Science Fiction movie "The Passport" (Amund Lie) and "Atrophy Bank" (Sam Asaert) which should come out late 2009. In June 2009 was released his latest album [ Leylines ] which received many excellent feedbacks from the electronic scene and from the beyond audience. The album was ranked top 10 sales electronic music on Itunes USA and Top 5 on emusic. As the conceptor of the Fahrenheit Project compilation, he is working on the last chapter of the series prior to re-releasing the whole collection as a deluxe edition.

David "Duke Mushroom" Schommer
Founder of the label Yoga Organix, Duke Mushroom is a platinum-selling producer, writer, and versatile musician. Duke has written and produced with artists as varied as the Baha Men, Carole King, Cooler Kids, Nile Rogers and Chic, Donna Summer, Cyndi Lauper, and Micheal Tolcher, before recording his groundbreaking foray into Global Sound, "BOLE 2 HARLEM." As one-half of the production team PopRox, he remixed tracks for Method Man, Montell Jordan, Sisqo, DMX, and Bob Marley among others. Besides being one of the original performing Cast members of Stomp!, his percussion credits include Gloria Estefan, Janet and Michael Jackson, Die Warsaw, and Cher, as well as playing on over 50 other records for the likes of Roger S, Tony Moran, Masters at Work, Static Revenger, and Erick Morillo. He has also scored several films, including “Accepted,” as well as the 2008 IDA winning documentary, “A Walk To Beautiful.” His songs and productions have been licensed in over 40 films and TV shows as well as numerous commercials.

EarthRise SoundSystem
EarthRise SoundSystem is the artistic and live team of DJ/writer/yogi Derek Beres and producer/ percussionist Duke Mushroom. Blending Duke's Award nominated production style (Bole 2 Harlem) and Derek's expansive vision of Global Beat Fusion, this duo has paired up to explore common cultural and sonic ground and create unique soundscapes, equally at home in the yoga studio or club and lounge. When the two ERSS members first joined together to remix a song by popular mantra singer Deva Premal, they set out to create a new paradigm as to what ‘yoga music’ meant. The result was a percussively rich, organically spacious and dubby soundscape. This approach laid the foundation for their full length album, The Yoga Sessions series (Yoga Organix: 2010), a collection of 21st century electronically inspired, yet organically grown original music that will redefine one’s notions of “yoga music.”

Eccodek
Eccodek is Canadian producer, remixer and multi-instrumentalist, Andrew McPherson. But more than that, it is the tapestry of sound created when a producer, inspired singers and gifted multi-instrumentalists from the four corners of the globe find a common love for dub, funk, jazz and cinematic electronics. Eccodek is the sound of cultures mingling, borders dissolving. It is the sound of the dub chamber, the goat skin drum and decaying vintage synths. It is the sound of Mali, Turkey, Fiji, Nigeria, India, Canada and beyond. Eccodek's earthy blend of global beats, soaring melodies and textured electronica has quickly established the project as a significant voice on the global fusion stage - an appearance on the world renowned global chill series, Buddha Bar, a remix for world music's second coming, Vieux Farka Touré and the distinction of being the only Canadian contributor to National Geographic's GeoRemix project are just a few distinctions that have put Eccodek on the proverbial map.

Drumspyder
Slinky desert dub, bellydance breaks, and deep tribal house are seamlessly blended with live arabic percussion in Drumspyder's hypnotic yet eminently danceable mix. Formerly a percussionist with some of San Francisco's most innovative dance ensembles - AWD, Xeno, and the Nekyia - he has since 2008 struck out on his own with a debut album on Dakini Records (Kytheria, 2010) plus a slew of remixes (most recently of Wonderwheel's Spy from Cairo) and appearances on numerous bellydance DVDs. His live electronica/percussion sets have ignited dancefloors from Black Rock to Tokyo.

Kaminanda
Hailing from the Coast of B.C, Kaminanda produces and performs music that uplifts the spirit of the listener, while allowing for the natural ebb and flow of light and dark.In a style that could be described as a swirling fusion of Trip Hop, Dub, midtempo and Sensual Grooves, Kaminanda unveils Crystalline Melodies, Ecstatic Rhythms from around the world and Beats and Bass that sway the body into surrender and release. Like an audio Oracle set, Kaminanda unfolds archetypes and elemental movements while tapping into the unlimited realms of Adventure, Beauty and Elevated States of Consciousness. He now makes his music out of southern California where he lives with his Beloved and Baby Boy.

Kalya Scintilla
Kalya Scintilla is a benevolent being incarnate from the star system womp. Drawing inspiration from Nature, Love, tribal energy, healing, sacred geometry, and many other of life's wonders, Kalya's music is quite unique in style and is definitely an interesting cross over between Dubstep/ Glitch Hop, the seductive sound of the Middle East and traditional Gypsy. Dripping molasses over a fractal tabla, a journey through an enchanted forest, the soundtrack to an epic dream scape. A successful attempt to resonate the heavens and earth channeled through sound waves.

Androcell
Androcell is an electronic meets organic music melding project that began in 2003 by audio producer, Tyler Smith. Tyler has experimented with electronic sound forms for over 15 years, but had been involved with acoustic music forms such as piano and percussion from early childhood into adolescence. With a deep passion for fusing a multitude of music styles and cultures, he set out to create his own unique, hybrid musical expression. Androcell music is designed as an all-encompassing, aural experience for cognizant chillers who seek excursions through sound.
